Unlocking Spv C550

Here is all the info you need for unlocking your Spv C550.
It works without any problems

Right then.....
The software to unlock the c500/550 can be downloaded form this site...
http://www.spv-developers.com/forum/...read.php?t=236
For unlocking this forum-page explains the details on what to do (PLEASE READ)
http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=207545
A quicker way of APPLICATION UNLOCKING can be found here (IF NEEDED and you don't want to wait for Oranges' web site)
http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=222786
Also will also need
a USB cable,
MS ActiveSync installed (free from Microsoft site - recommend latest version)
and an orange sim to start phone!.
Plus the site has LOAD of other info on smartphones, well worth a look round. (go to forum index http://www.modaco.com/ )

Step by step details below....
1. you have to downloaded the zip file from this site (http://www.spv-developers.com/forum/...read.php?t=236)
and extract it to your hard drive.
2. From the files extracted above, you need to copy the file 'cert.cab' onto your phones Storage card
3. Now using the phone its-self, you need to use the phones 'file manager' (found in Accessories) to locate the 'cert.cab' file on your phone, then execute the 'cert.cab' file (press the action key - centre of joystick) this will kick of the installation. * see note A below
4. if the installation of the ‘cert.cab’ file is successful then all you need to do now is run ‘SPVSERVICES.EXE’ from the pc, click the ‘simlock tool’, type agree, then click unlock
5. if the installation of the cert file fails then you need to APPLICATION UNLOCK the phone 1st, this page shows the essayist (and quicker than the orange site) way to do this using a registry editor here, (please read until the end - if the following scares you then please wait for the Orange website to Ap unlock your phone)
http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=222786
6. Download and extract the file from above, and copy the file ‘regeditSTG.exe’ to your phones Storage card (If you get a permissions error then copy the zip file to the phone and extract using the phones explorer)
7. Now using the phone its-self, you need to use the phones 'file manager' (found in Accessories) to locate the file ‘regeditSTG.exe’ on your phone, then execute the ‘regeditSTG.exe’ file (press the action key - centre of joystick), this starts the registry editor. * see note A below
8. With the registry editor do the following,
scroll down to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, press the action key,
scroll down to ‘Security’, press the action key,
scroll down to ‘Policies’, press the action key,
scroll to ‘Policies’, press the action key,
the screen should now probably appear blank,
press the ‘VALUES’ key (left softkey on phone),
locate ‘00001001’ press the action key and change the ‘value data’ to 1,
press ‘done’ then do similar for ‘00001005’ and ‘value data’ to 40,
press done,
NOW keep pressing the back key until the registry editor closes
The phone should now be APPLICATION UNLOCKED,
9. Now go to step 3 to SIMUNLOCK, (or step 2 if the ‘cert.cab’ file has been deleted which can happed if an install fails).
**********************************************
SOME OTHER NOTES - PLEASE READ IF HAVING PROBS
**********************************************
A. If you have copied the regeditor or cert.cab to the phone but can't find/see it using the phones file manager (and are not familiar with using it) you have to press the 'list view' button to see files instead of folders, and as the 'regeditSTG.exe' file gets marked as a system file you need to tell File Manager to view system files, via - menu->options and untick 'hide system files'
B. The orange website for APPLICATION UNLOCKING does not appear to work (for most) if using the FireFox browser ;-( , must use IE.
C. The program 'SPVservices' uses IE's engine, and java scrip must be enabled in IE for it to work (change via tools->Internet options->Security->custom level, scroll down to find script options and enable.
D. If you get a RAPI error when you run Spvservices.exe and the installation of the ‘cert.cab’ file was successful, please make sure you have extracted the "TyphoonNBFTools.dll" file to the same place as "SPVSERVICES.EXE" (do not run spvservices from 'within' the zip file) or this could be either you are running an old version of ActiveSync (free from MS) or please try to run Spvservices.exe again, for some reason, sometimes it does this, and restarting usually solves it (have seen this myself - only ever happens (sometimes) on 1st run of Spvservices.exe BUT not always - a restart has always fixed it!?!?!?!?!)
